Review – Imperial cardigan

Amongst my purchases from the Her Universe booth at Celebration Anaheim was the Imperial High Commander cardigan. It was first previewed in early April, paired with the pin-up Hoth dress (which I reviewed here), and of course I fell in love with the whole outfit. This is a great example of taking a costume and designing a real-world garment version – the colour and rank badge are those of Grand Moff Tarkin (the rank badge is known as ‘High Commander’, hence the cardigan’s name). I paid US$50, though unfortunately this cardigan is currently out of stock in all sizes from Her Universe.

I bought mine in size S – approximate measures are 48cm across the chest (underarm to underarm), 44cm from front neckline to hem, and 35cm across the lower hem. The sleeves are 3/4 length, which really suits this style. The garment tag notes the fabric is 78% cotton, 22% nylon, nice and soft with a good amount of stretch, definitely thicker than the earlier Symbols cardigan (which was made from t-shirt fabric). The cardigan features eight buttons down the front, they have a gray opalescent appearance. The embroidery is very nicely done – the rank badge on front measures approximately 8cm wide and 5cm high, while the Imperial symbol on the right sleeve measures approximately 2.5cm in diameter. I really hope Her Universe restocks this item, it is an absolute must-have for me, I love it.
