Review – Wallace Berrie Star Wars rings

Wallace Berrie - boxed Star Wars rings

For Empire Strikes Back, the Star Wars jewelry license was held by Wallace Berrie. Their line included pendants, pins, and a set of six adjustable rings which I have recently been able to add to my own collection.

Each ring is gold in color, with an adjustable band. The packaging notes the size as ‘small to medium’ – which in comparison is a little under my own wedding ring size. Opening up the adjustable band would allow me to wear them on my other fingers, so I’m not sure if the sizing is women’s or girl’s. In my on-line searches, I haven’t spotted boxes with a different size marked, so I’m unsure if they were available in larger sizes. When fully ‘closed’ the internal diameter is approximately 14-15mm, I can fit it on my little finger easily.

The six designs are Yoda, X-Wing, R2-D2, Darth Vader, C-3PO & R2-D2, and May The Force Be With You. Each one is stamped on the back with the copyright details “(c) 1980 LFL W Berrie, Taiwan”. The enamelled pictures are well done, though the Yoda image is a little less detailed than the others. They appear to be fairly easy to find complete with boxes on the secondary market. I paid US$10-12 each for mine on Ebay, a reasonable price to pick one up as a test if you’re a little unsure of the sizing.
