Review – Tapestry leggings

These Darth Vader tapestry leggings were released by Thinkgeek back in November, and I loved them straight away. Made by Mighty Fine, these leggings are exclusive to Thinkgeek – they are still available in sizes L to 3X (sizes S and M are currently out of stock). Usually priced at US$29.99 each, I paid US$23.99 during a recent 20% off sale.

Thinkgeek notes these are velour leggings – and gosh they are so soft and fuzzy! I was expecting a soft feel to the surface, but these really are more like velvet! Despite the fuzzy fabric, the black pattern print is clear, even with all the fine details. The pattern has an Imperial theme, featuring Darth Vader, the Imperial symbol, the Death Star, Stormtoopers, Star Destroyers, lightsabers, and TIE Fighters – all within the tapestry style print. The base colour is a dark grey, with a faint purple tone to it (more evident in certain light). I love the colour scheme, it works so well with the velour fabric and pattern style.

I bought mine in size S – they measure approximately 34.5cm across the waistband, approximately 97.5cm from waistband to ankle hem (approximately 76cm inseam). I own a lot of leggings with large Star Wars prints (which I love), but it’s nice to see a different, more subtle approach to leggings. I would love to see more women’s Star Wars apparel with patterns like this – especially a matching Rebel version!
