Since I first discovered Han Cholo at Celebration Anaheim, I have been eager to buy my favourites from the collection. A recent purchase that has just arrived is the ‘Shadow Series’ stainless steel Stormtrooper pendant. It is priced at US$75.00 – and is so popular it is currently out stock at Han Cholo, but don’t worry, more stock is arriving very soon. I particularly like the full figure sculpt – all the other Stormtrooper jewelry I have only features the helmet, so it’s great to see a different version, complete with blaster.
The pendant comes packaged in a ‘drawer-style’ black gift box, which features an all-over starry sky background, with the Star Wars and Han Cholo logos embossed in silver on the front. The back of the box has smaller logos printed in white, this time with website addresses, together with the Disney logo and the text ‘For Ages Cool And Up’. The pendant sits on a foam square inside the box (the foam has a black velvet top layer), with the rest of the chain length tucked behind.
The Stormtrooper pendant is one piece and solid, sculpted in a classic pose holding an E-11 blaster rifle. The detail is really nice, accented with black antiquing (though it doesn’t show quite as well in my photos as it looks in person). The standard ‘(c) LFL’ copyright text is stamped into the underside of one foot – it can even stand up. The Stormtrooper measures approximately 50mm high, with the hanger measuring approximately 9mm across. The pendant hanger features the Imperial ‘cog’ logo on both sides, with black antiquing to accent the design. The chain itself is quite unique, with rectangular links – Han Cholo uses this style throughout their Star Wars jewelry collection. At 30″ in length, I can put it on over my head without undoing the clasp, so it’s a little longer than most of my other Star Wars necklaces, but the length suits the ‘chunkier’ style of chain. The chain closes with a standard lobster style clasp, with a little tag that features the Han Cholo logo on one side, and the Star Wars logo on the other.
I thought it was neat that the Stormtrooper pendant is in scale with the R2-D2 pendant from the same collection – I love the way they look in bright sunlight. These are statement pieces, with fantastic detail and ‘attitude’ – they are a very exciting addition to my wardrobe.
