We are very saddened to hear the official announcement that Peter Mayhew passed away on April 30th (US time), aged 74 years. He was at his home in Texas, with his family at his side.
I was very fortunate that I got to meet Peter Mayhew, all the way back in 2003 when he visited New Zealand. Since then, I have always enjoyed his panels at conventions like Star Wars Celebration. As I always do, I celebrate the characters and actors of Star Wars through my wardrobe, and so of course today I will be wearing some of my favourite Chewbacca apparel and accessories.
Farewell Peter, you will be greatly missed.
