Review – Loungefly Phasma coin purse

Review – Loungefly Phasma coin purse

First revealed on Force Friday last year, the Captain Phasma range was released by Loungefly in late November last year. I was already a Captain Phasma fan before I saw The Force Awakens, so of course I am keen to pick up as much Phasma-related fashion as I can. I am excited to finally get my hands on the awesome Captain Phasma coin purse, a great matching accessory for the mini dome bag (read my recent review of the bag here). The Captain Phasma coin purse is available from Loungefly.com – priced at US$21.00 each. There is also the matching handbag (US$70.00 each) and women’s wallet (US$40.00 each) that are available separately.

The coin purse is in the shape of Captain Phasma’s custom chromium stormtrooper helmet, made from a silver patent faux leather with printed black details. Both sides of the coin purse are embossed, so the black panels are slightly recessed around the edges, giving that extra detailed touch, rather than a flat print. Like the matching handbag, the front and the back of the coin purse are different, showing both of those angles of Phasma’s helmet. The back also features the Loungefly x Star Wars metal logo plaque, with black enamel detail.

The edges of each side are sealed in black patent faux leather binding, then sewn together with a black zip across the upper half – the binding has a tidy finish and gives strength to the lower edge. The coin purse has the standard Loungefly x Star Wars details – the printed Star Wars logo lining fabric inside, and a sturdy Loungefly logo zipper pull. As is also standard for Loungefly x Star Wars coin purses, there is a small black tag in the lower seam, which features the Star Wars logo embroidered in silver thread on both sides.

The coin purse measures approximately 13.5cm tall and 11.5cm wide (at the widest points). It’s size can easily accommodate credit cards and cash, making it a useful and functional mini-wallet. Of course it matches really well to the Captain Phasma handbag – but it’s a stand-out item on it’s own. The helmet shape is perfect for a coin purse, and I love the black and silver colour scheme. This is a fantastic addition to my Loungefly collection – as with the other items in this Phasma range, the highly reflective silver finish makes it a really attention-grabbing piece.
