Review – Fifth Sun tank top

I was really impressed by the huge range of women’s The Force Awakens tops released by Fifth Sun for Force Friday – 120 to choose from! There was one design that straight away caught my eye – the women’s pink ‘Rebel’ racerback tank top. I’m always drawn to pink Star Wars apparel, it’s fun and feminine – and I’m definitely a fan of Rebel themed apparel too, so this was a must-have item for me. I paid US$22.00, it is still available in sizes S, L and XL at Fifth Sun – and currently on sale for US$18.70. It’s interesting that for The Force Awakens, the Rebel symbol remains the same as the one used in the original trilogy, whereas the Imperial ‘cog’ symbol has been replaced by the First Order symbol.

The tank top is a cheerful pink colour, brighter than it appeared on the Fifth Sun website – I prefer the brighter colour as it appears in person. The tank top fabric is 50% polyester, 25% cotton, 25% rayon – lovely and soft, with a nice drape. The edges are all overlocked/serged, rather than turned over, which works well with the light fabric. The tank top itself is made by Next Level Apparel – as Fifth Sun is an apparel printing company – and includes a Star Wars tag, noting it is a licensed item. The Rebel symbol is printed in a very light pink, with the text ‘Rebel’ printed in white over the top – the Rebel symbol has a weathered appearance. The printing is nice and thin, so it’s not stiff or prone to cracking with stretch. I bought mine in size S – it measures approximately 40cm across the chest, 47cm across the lower hem (straight across, side seam to side seam), and 49cm from front neckline to front hem. This is a fun tank top perfect for summer, I’m really happy to have it in my wardrobe 🙂
