Review – Lightsaber skirt

One of the items on my *need* list to buy at Celebration Anaheim was the lightsaber skirt by Her Universe. I noticed this is not available on their website, I suspect it sold out at/during Celebration, and I’m not surprised! Thankfully Her Universe just announced they are making more to sell at their boutique at Star Wars Weekends – I hope this means they’ll also add stock to their on-line store (update: available as of Nov 2015). It retailed for US$75, a great price for such a unique and well made garment.

The black skirt is sewn from printed fabric featuring lightsabers – Darth Vader (ROTS), Darth Maul (TPM), Anakin Skywalker (ROTS), Mace Windu (AOTC/ROTS), and Luke Skywalker (ROTJ). It features the same high quality fabrics as the pin up dresses from the same collection. It is lined with black satin, neatly sewn into the waist band so no raw edges are exposed. The lining is attached to the center back seam of the skirt, so it sits nice and flat. The skirt opens with a black invisible zip, with a hook & eye closure at the top. I bought mine in size XS, it follows the same size chart as the pin up dresses. The size chart notes the xs sizing as waist 24.5-26.5″ and hips 34-35″. The waist band measures approximately 34cm across, the skirt measures approximately 58.5cm long from waist band to hem. I love this skirt so much, I’m so happy to add it to my wardrobe.

Hi! Thank you for the review of the skirt it was quite helpful! When u said the waistband was 34 cm did u mean inches? Do u feel it needs a petty coat like it says in the description? Your response us greatly appreciated. Thank!

I take my garment measurements laid flat – so the waistband of this size XS skirt measures 34cm across – double that to get the approximate circumference of 68cm (I live in New Zealand where we use metric measurements). I do agree that the skirt looks better with a petticoat – though I don’t have one yet to try it out myself.
