Fabric from men’s garments

Often I spot a Star Wars garment, and wish I could get my hands on the original fabric to make something custom for myself. More recently I have started the practice of buying men’s items in the largest size available in order to undo the seams and use the fabric for a project of my own. My first experiment with this was back in 2003, while still learning to sew I bought a pair of Star Wars men’s boxer shorts and sewed together a small throw pillow from the fabric.

Two such examples of my garment purchases destined to be disassembled are a pair of men’s lounge pants in a nice soft/slight stretch fabric, and a printed cotton button down shirt featuring Imperial cog buttons – I wish I could buy those buttons on their own! I haven’t decided exactly what to make from the fabrics yet, I am keen to start experimenting with designs.
